The Brazil international, who joined from
Fluminense in 2007, has committed his future to los Blancos for the next five
seasons
The
Brazil international still had three years to run on his previous deal with los
Blancos but has now decided to extend his stay in the Spanish capital for an
additional two seasons.
Marcelo
joined Madrid from Fluminense in January 2007 and has long since established
himself as the club's first-choice left-back.
The
27-year-old has won three Liga titles during his time at the Bernabeu, while he
also played a key role in the 2014 Champions League triumph, scoring a goal in
the final against Atletico Madrid.
Marcelo,
who missed Brazil's Copa America campaign with a back injury, becomes the
second Madrid defender to commit his future to the club this week, with fellow
full-back Dani Carvajal also having signed on until 2020 on Wednesday.
